Responsibilities:
- Carry out scheduled daily activities as outlined by Hub Coordinator.
- Manage small group of up to five clients to encourage engagement and active participation in all activities within the centre and on outings. This includes but is not limited to participation in physical activities
- Encourage integration of group in all activities including clients that have 1:1 support.
- Supervise and train staff that provide one-to-one support as well as practicum students with direction from the Hub Coordinator.
- Ensure that clients are always observed and be proficient in the implementation of any behaviour plans (including PRN medication administration), crisis plans, and emergency response (including writing of incident reports).
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants and staff, as per BI policies and procedures. This includes effective communication with parents, one-to-one staff, administration staff, students and clinicians.
- Record attendance, participation in activities, late client record, medication administration, and reports any inappropriate or unusual behaviours to the Hub including serious occurrence reports in accordance with BI policy.
- Assist with personal care of clients as necessary, and ensure that recreational, social, and personal needs are met for all clients. This may include assisting with toileting routines, assisting with feeding, medication administration and other self-care routines
Staff must be available M-F 8:30am-4pm with a minimum 6-months commitment required
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
- B.A. in Psychology, Child Studies, or equivalent or near completion of such a degree OR CYW, SSW or DSW diploma preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
- Experience in the field of applied behaviour analysis
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Leadership experience is considered an asset
