Autism Spectrum Disorder
If you are a parent concerned with your child’s development, Behaviour Innovations can help.
What is Autism?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that affects how a person communicates and interacts with the world. Symptoms can be detected as early as 18-24 months of age. Early intervention can significantly improve a child’s development and quality of life. If you’re concerned about your child’s development, an ASD assessment can help you get the answers you need and connect you with resources that can support your child.
The Assessment Process
An assessment for autism spectrum disorder typically involves a multi-step process to gather a comprehensive picture of your child’s strengths and needs. Here is what you can expect:
Initial Meeting with the Psychologist
This initial step involves a detailed discussion with you, the parent or caregiver. The Psychologist will ask questions about your child’s development and any concerns you may have.
Assessment With Your Child
During the assessment with the Psychologist, a tailored assessment will be administered. You will also be asked to complete standardized rating scales about your child’s development and behaviour, providing additional valuable information.
Debrief and Review of the Results
After the assessment measures have been completed, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to review the results with you. During this session, you’ll sit down with your psychologist to discuss the findings, recommendations, and next steps.
